WHAT IS IJMBE?

IJMB which means Interim Joint Matriculation Board is a Federal Government Educational Programme that is birthed and controlled by Amadu Bello University, Zaria. IJMB Programme is an advance level programme that gives qualified students admission directly into 200 Level in any Local University and Foreign Universities of choice through Direct Entry. IJMB was established in 1976 to create an alternative means to get into the university other than Jamb. Having observed the incessant failure recorded by Jamb each year, the board of IJMB had to come up with an alternative way for qualified admission seekers to secure admission into the university of their choice.

IJMB Program is fully certified by Nigeria University Commission (NUC) as an A’level programme that serves as a mode of entry into the university currently and by comparison, will be rated above jamb as it provides a more flexible mechanism to gain admission into any University in Nigeria of choice and its admission is directly into 200L.

etc.

IJMBE GRADES AND HOW TO CALCULATE IT?

The grades and calculations are quite straight forward. As we have said before, the total number of courses a student would take is (3). Also, any student that undertakes this programme and has issues with English and maths must ensure to get it fixed before the end of the program.

IJMB GRADE POINTS:
70-100% (A) is 5points
60-69% (B) is 4points
50-59% (C) is 3points
45-49% (D) is 2points
40-44% (E) is 1point
39% below (F) is 0points

So if a student should register for Physics, Chemistry and Biology and gets 70%, 56% and 87% for the courses respectively, that makes a total combination points of 13points.

PHYSICS 70%=5POINTS

CHEMISTRY 56%=3POINTS

BIOLOGY 87%=5POINTS

Meanwhile, so many universities consider 8 to 9 points for admission but to study law or medicine, it’s hard to see any school that will accept 8 to 9 points.

IJMBE EXAM

IJMB EXAMINATION is usually written February of every year after registration closes in January. The exam is set and moderated by the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Though the exam is written in different accredited locations all over the country.
